Tom Holland himself confirmed that your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is going to get a solo trilogy. Under Holland’s contract, it states that he has three solo movies and three different appearances (Avengers 3 and 4?). Captain America: Civil War (2016) and Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) have knocked two movies out of his contract, Avengers: Infinity War (2018) will make it his second appearance, and with a Spidey sequel set in place for a July 5, 2019 release, only time would reveal a third solo movie. He was interviewed by AlloCiné and accidentally confirmed his third movie by saying,
“There is still a lot of room for Peter Parker and Spider-Man especially to grow in the next two movies. He’s definitely not the finished article by the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming and I really look forward to exploring the different ways he can grow up and go through puberty I guess. It’s going to be an exciting couple of movies […] Yeah, there’ll be Spider-Man 2 and 3, it won’t be Homecoming 2 and 3 […] Yeah, well, now ya know. Sorry Marvel. Whoops. That’s out.”
It should not come as a surprise that Tom Holland would have his own trilogy. Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Daredevil, and Guardians of the Galaxy all have or will have their own trilogy. Avengers will be a quadrilogy as of right now, Agents of SHIELD going onto season 5, and Doctor Strange (2016), Black Panther (2018), and Captain Marvel (2019) have yet to be confirmed for a sequel, but those will probably change soon enough.
The next two Spider-Man movies will still be set in high school so Tom will likely be busy shooting these movies while he still looks like he does. It may be a solid four years until his last movie, assuming they stick to two years apart which would be great for his senior year. Maybe that will be the subtitle? I think this trilogy will have interestingness moments. What do you think of another Spidey trilogy?
