As much as we’ve all wanted a Hulk solo film since Ruffalo became a staple of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, to once imagine William Hurt’s General Ross become the Red Hulk in the announcement of his appearance in Captain America: Civil War, neither seem to be in the cards. No such thing happened in Civil War, and the rights for the Hulk still remain in an odd place with Universal.
Recently, though, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn mentioned in a Facebook Q&A that, before GotG, he wanted to helm a film involving the two characters.
In my opinion, it would definitely be interesting to see Gunn’s take, especially if all the kinks get ironed out when it comes to a standalone Hulk film in the MCU. There would likely be a slight tonal change and when it comes to the scale of both visuals and story, Gunn could truly make this epic given the work he’s already done. Despite Thor: Ragnarok being as close as we’re gonna get, it would be cool if Gunn still wanted to tackle this in the future. What do you think?
