One of Spider-Man’s most familiar abilities is his spider sense. This allows him to detect danger such as an approaching bad guy. The director of Spider-Man: Homecoming, John Watts, spoke with cinemablend on this topic. He said
“I feel like we have seen a lot of Spider Sense in the previous films, so we didn’t really lean into that as hard as they have in the previous films. But I do think it is a really interesting thing to explore.”
Watts isn’t incorrect when he mentions that Peter’s spider sense was an important factor in all of the Spider-Man films. From dodging Green Goblin’s glider in Spider-Man, to it malfunctioning in Spider-Man 2, to saving the people in Time Square in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Watts doesn’t say that Peter’s ability of spider sense isn’t present, but maybe he hasn’t developed it by Spider-Man: Homecoming.
