The Wolverine has been cast as the menacing Scar!
Today is the biggest day for Disney’s D23 Convention. It was revealed by Omega Underground that Hugh Jackman (Logan, Prisoners) will voice Scar, the antagonist in the live action adaptation of Disney’s The Lion King.
Scar has been known as the jealous brother of Mufasa and the uncle of Simba. He was voiced by Jeremy Irons originally in the animated movie.
Jackman will be joining an already-announced cast of Donald Glover, John Oliver, Billy Eichner, and Seth Rogen as Simba, Zazu, Timon, and Pumba, respectively. James Earl Jones is reprising his role as Mufasa. The film will be directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man, The Jungle Book).
Omega Underground also used Jackman’s recent appearance at Disneyland as a hint of his involvement in the movie and an appearance possibly at D23.

The full cast will be announced this weekend most likely.
Disney’s The Lion King will hit the theaters on July 19, 2019.
UPDATE: A representative of Jackman has debunked the rumor to The Wrap and said that the report has “absolutely no truth.”
