According to a recent article by CNBC, 21st Century Fox is looking to sell the vast majority to the Walt Disney Company. For Marvel fans, this is huge news, as properties such as the X-Men and Fantastic Four are owned by Fox.

The talks are on-again off-again, but things are looking hopeful for the two companies. Fox’s motives to sell stem from the idea that focusing more on news and sports will help the company in the ever-changing media landscape. This works perfectly for Disney, because antitrust laws, set up to prevent monopolies, forbid Disney to have any more sports networks since they already own ESPN.

The assets acquired by Disney if these talks continue to a fruitful conclusion would benefit Disney in the television and movie areas. Channels such as National Geographic and FX would then fall under the Disney umbrella, and he X-Men would be able to share the screen with The Avengers. Maybe there would even be a properly made Fantastic Four movie!

What do you think of these talks? Share your thoughts below! follow Geek Motivation on Instagram and Twitter to stay up to date on this (hopefully) developing story! And follow me on my personal Twitter.
