Earlier this week, we reported that Venom would have an emblem on his suit in his upcoming solo movie, Venom. Our source informed us that, despite what we’ve seen, and despite Spider-Man being unconnected to this movie, there would still be some sort of emblem on Venom’s chest.

We at Geek Motivation would like to apologize for the false reporting. We hold ourselves to a standard of honest journalism and loyalty to our readers and followers. We broke that standard. We trusted the source, but the information turned out false. Needless to say, we won’t be delivering any scoops from that source anymore. This is our commitment: In the future, you can look to us for honest, real journalism. You can come to us to find joy and positivity in this world of hatred and negativity. We are a team of men and women from around the world simply trying to make a difference in the geek community, and you CAN count on us.

Venom’s classic suit from the comics, featuring the white spider emblem

As for the news, Venom director Ruben Fleischer has confirmed that Venom will not have the classic white spider from the comics on his suit, but will simply carry elements of white on his costume.

“If you look at the comics, in Venom, there is just elements of white within his suit. Because our character does not originate from Spider-Man, it makes no sense to put a spider on his chest. We tried to be as accurate as we possibly could, even though some people feel it’s inaccurate, but there is a lot of white and we wanted to give him a distinctive pattern. If you have an all-black character, especially in night scenes, he just kind of disappears. … Since we couldn’t use the Spider-Man symbol, we wanted to give him another graphic element, and those veins that kind of form a shape on his chest was an original idea that we just thought looked really cool.”
