One of the silver linings in 2016’s Suicide Squad was Will Smith’s Deadshot. He had depth and great chemistry with the other team members, especially Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. There were even rumors that WB was developing a solo film for him. Regardless, he won’t be in Suicide Squad‘s sequel: 2021’s The Suicide Squad.
Variety, who first broke the news, cites “scheduling issues” as the main reason Smith won’t reprise his role. There is no confirmation that any of the cast members from Suicide Squad will return in the James Gunn-directed sequel. Hopefully, Margot Robbie’s fan favorite Harley Quinn will return.
