Tom King’s amazing Batman run is quickly coming to a close. The Eisner Award-winning writer initially set out to write a one-hundred issue run following The Caped Crusader, but cut it back shortly after announcing his work on a New Gods screenplay alongside Ava DuVernay. The new grand total of King’s run will be 85 issues, with another short series launching in January to finish up his original story.

King’s departure from the series does not mean the comic will end, however, as a new rumor from Bleeding Cool now reports that former “Batman” writer James Tynion IV will take over the story from issue 86 until 100. Tynion currently writes on a couple series, such as Detective ComicsJustice League, and a new comic from Boom Studios titled, Something Is Killing The Children.

When Tynion’s run reaches issue #100, however, the ongoing Batman series will relaunch, starting at issue #1 as the new, yet to be named, writer will replace Bruce Wayne’s Batman with Luke Fox, the current Batwing. There has yet to be any announcement of a creative team for the relaunch, however.

What do you think of James Tynion IV taking over the last 15 issues of King’s run? Let us know in the comments below! And be sure to follow The Cinema Spot on Twitter (@TheCinemaSpot) and Instagram (@thecinemaspot_) to stay up to date on all the latest DC Comics news!
