Spoiler Warning for the film Parasite:
The Award-winning film Parasite is set to be expanded for television, and it’ll have a Hulk!
Collider reported that Avengers: Endgame‘s own Mark Ruffalo is in very early talks to star in a Parasite series created by Oscar-winning directors Bong Joon-ho and Adam McKay.
The limited series is said to be based on the script of the Academy Award-winning film written by Bong and Han Jin-won, and set to count between five to six episodes.
As of yet, the soon-to-be HBO produced series is in very early development and no official casting, nor a finished script is set in stone. Collider considered the news a “premature” but not “wrong” due to their multiple sources. At the same time, the idea of a limited series based on the movie is not unheard of as Bong himself confirmed it a while back.
In an interview with The Wrap, Bong himself stated:
“I had all these key ideas accumulated from when I started writing the script. I just couldn’t include all those ideas in the two-hour running time of the film, so they’re all stored in my iPad and my goal with this limited series is to create a six-hour-long film.”
The filmmaker also hinted that some of the ideas for the Parasite series were to explain certain events that were left up in the air from the film, more specifically with the Park’s housekeeper Mun Gwang.
“When the original housekeeper Mun Gwang (Lee Jung Eun) comes back in the late-night, something happened to her face. Even her husband asked about it, but she never answered. I know why she had the bruises on her face. I have a story for that, and aside from that, why does she know the existence of this bunker? What relationship does she have with that architect to know of this bunker? So I have all these hidden stories that I have stored,” said Bong to The Wrap.
Bong Joon-Ho made history at the 92th Academy Awards with the film Parasite and its impeccable sweep of awards, including “Best Independent Film”, “Best Original Screenplay” and the unforgettable “Best Director” win. The South Korean film also won “Best Picture” making it the first non-English spoken film to ever win the Oscar!
