Christopher Smith aka Peacemaker (John Cena) returns after his introduction in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. He is set to make his television debut in his solo series, Peacemaker, later this January. We got to see its panel at today’s DC FanDome event!
Read ahead for all the awesome information revealed. Potential spoilers for those who want to see the series going in knowing nearly nothing!
Panel Details
John Cena is hosting the panel. He takes us behind the scenes of the series, and there will indeed be profanity. Executive producers Peter Safran and Matt Miller join screenwriter/director James Gunn. Additionally, Cena, Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, Steve Agee, and Chukwudi Iwuji join the panel.
Emilia Harcourt (Holland) and Leota Adebayo (Brooks) will be like sisters in the show.
This is Agee’s fourth project with Gunn. They’ve previously worked on Super, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and The Suicide Squad together.
Cena talks about being “a super asshole”. Miller says Peacemaker will be a workplace-centered series with comic book elements. It will be “The Office as a superhero show”.
Brooks and Gunn agree that Adebayo is the only character who thinks Peacemaker is funny. Cena commends Gunn for taking a step in his direction, with 8 episodes worked on so far. However, they tease that more could come.
Doom Patrol‘s Clint Mansell and Kevin Kiner will score the series.
Teaser Details
Peacemaker begins with the title character out of the hospital. (See TSS.) Economos (Agee), Adebayo, Harcourt, and Clemson Murn (Iwuji) will be in his team for whatever mission is to come.
We get an appearance from Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith.
James Gunn’s Peacemaker is set to premiere via HBO Max on January 16th, 2022!
