You heard it right.
The popular Netflix superhero show seems to have gotten the green light to start filming production from what the Devil actor himself, Charlie Cox, has revealed in a podcast interview with Boogaloo Radio.
“I do that later in the year. We’ll go back and do that.”
Since it is clear the filming starts later this year, we can expect it to premiere in 2018 around the same spot in March as the previous two seasons.
Marvel’s Daredevil first premiered in April 2015 on Netflix with a new adaptation of its 2003 movie counterpart, which starred Ben Affleck as Matt Murdock. The movie was poorly received by the critics and fans alike, but the series however, has understandably gained the opposite reaction since its first episode.
Since Daredevil is one of the four main casts of The Defenders, and the new show releases in August this year, the events in the third season of Daredevil would obviously take place after the first season of this show. The main speculation amongst fans with regards to the third season happen to be of the antagonist. Charlie Cox had this to say on ScreenGeek:
“It’s no secret, I’ve said it before and I get in trouble every time I say it, I’d like to see Bullseye make an appearance at some point. I think it’s a really interesting opportunity. Deborah Ann Woll obviously does not want Bullseye to show up for obvious reasons. Elodie Yung, who plays Elektra, doesn’t want Bullseye to show up either.”
The reason why the actresses feel this way is because Bullseye is a deadly assassin with pinpoint marksmanship who never misses his target. As it happens in his story, he kills Matt’s love interest, Karen Page (played by Deborah in the show). As for Elektra, she is impaled by her own ‘sai’ when Bullseye uses it to stab her in the chest. Hence, the reaction is perfectly understandable, as they would not like their characters to be killed off so early.
The odds seem to be in favour of Bullseye as of now, but nothing is for sure. He does seem like a worthy villain for Daredevil; an assassin with deadly accuracy over stationary figures? Sounds like Daredevil has to be on constant move if he were to avoid that shuriken…who am I kidding, avoid ANYTHING that Bullseye is going to throw at him. Not only that; the fact that he poses fatal threat to Matt’s closest friends? Now that’s something I would want to watch.
We could go for another article full of speculations in depth, but for now, the news is out and fans can rejoice until the season releases. (That’s a long time to be celebrating.) Or in the meantime, they can watch The Defenders, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, or the previous seasons of Daredevil too! (Psst! Iron Fist has martial arts. BIG fan here!)
