Michael Bay confirmed at CinemaCon that there are not one, not two, but FOURTEEN Transformers movies already written and in pre-production at Paramount, one of them being a prequel spinoff starring your favorite black and yellow speedster Bumblebee, arriving June 8, 2018.

Although Paramount hasn’t released anything confirming this, reports have circulated the Internet saying that the Bumblebee solo film will begin filming in July 2017. Directed by Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings), the film will focus solely on Bumblebee and his character. When asked about it, Michael Bay had this to say:

It’ll go a little younger, and it will deal more with his character and it’s just about him.

A prequel movie for Bumblebee is certainly an intriguing premise, as he’s the one Transformer who cannot speak. With his loving character, an origin story has potential. As for the this upcoming Transformers universe, Michael Bay will produce all 14 movies, however, Transformers: The Last Knight hasn’t received the exact response it wanted so far.

Should Transformers: The Last Knight underperform, hopefully Bumblebee can restore Transformers to its deserved glory, because who DOESN’T want to see giant transforming cars beating up on each other with trademark Michael Bay explosions?!
