Just a few short days ago, Spiderman: Homecoming producer Amy Pascal raised the hopes of every Marvel fan with her comments regarding the shared universe between Spidey and the upcoming Black Cat and Silver Sable film as well as Tom Hardy’s Venom movie. That declaration, however, has seemingly changed, as per Marvel President Kevin Feige

Then, however, Mr. Feige claimed Spiderman was the only Sony property to be shared and in existence with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This new declaration may have crushed the souls of many die-hard Marvel fans who wished to see Spidey share the big screen with the humongous rogues gallery, however, many hadn’t lost hope. Feige’s direct quote said, “Right now, Spidey is in the MCU and it’s just Spidey.”

With a quote as ominous as that, who knows whether Venom and other Spiderman characters may pop up in an MCU film? “Right now” seems to give hope to fans who wish to see all the Sony-owned characters join the MCU, and the future of the MCU is always in development. Hope for the spin-off characters in the MCU was then crushed when Erik Davis tweeted this:

What that entails is unclear. However, it is now clear that Venom, Black Cat, and Silver Sable will not be in the MCU. Whether or not they will one day transition over just as Spiderman has will be determined in the future, but for now, the spin-off characters will remain where they stand.

We here at Geek Motivation believe that we cannot give up hope of the full-rights custody agreement between Sony and Marvel to bring all Spiderman characters into the MCU. At the same time, we understand that a partnership such as Sony and Marvel’s is unprecedented and that each new step is a path deeper into the unknown. Spiderman: Homecoming, premieres July 7, 2017.
